Bosnian language lecture, Banja Luka, March 1, 2018.

Institute for the Language of the University of Sarajevo and Muftijstvo Banjalučko celebrated the Independence Day by organizing a forum about the Bosnian language, which is also part of the program activities marking the Institute Days, as well as marking the International Mother Language Day. The lecture was held in the Muftijstvo, in Banja Luka, March 1, 2018, on the subject “Bosnian language in the context of the International Mother Language Day”.

The introductory word was given by Mufti dr. Osman ef. Kozić, appealing to the attendees on the occasion of the Independence Day, and in accordance with the topic of the lecture, provided a framework for the topics discussed by the lecturers: dr. sc. Alen Kalajdžija (Director of the Language Institute), dr. sc. Jasmin Hodžić, mr. sc. Aida Kršo and the writer Hadžem Hajdarević. The Institute Director briefly presented the work of the Institute, and then spoke about the history of the Bosnian language. Other speakers talked about sociolinguistic aspects in language, contemporary language and language norms, the importance of knowing, learning and preserving the Bosnian language, about language as the fundamental value of identity, cultural and literary tradition, with the aim of nurturing and preserving the Bosnian language, with realization of basic human rights.

Motivating and contenting lectures with an inspiring audience, and in the atmosphere of Independence Day, have launched a positive energy towards shared, committed and responsible work, learning, advancement, preserving the basic traditional values.
